I have been living in Rome for going on 2 years now and I am always very intrigued about how other foreigners view the city of Rome and the country of Italy – a population with so many contradictions.
Four seasons in Rome goes onto my Must Read list, I’m looking forward to it.

Our book club is currently reading “The Mighty Queens of Freeville”, and I too, highly recommend it as a delightful read on the ups and downs of life. We could all learn a few lessons on “not whining” from Amy Dickinson.

Plus – it is a lot of fun to read about places that are in your own back yard!

I recently completed “Outliers” and found it to be completely fascinating. As a teacher, I see the roll of perseverance as vital to today’s students. They will never be able to take advantage of the doors that are open to them if they do not engage in curiosity and continue to work at things that do not come easily to them.

I think that most people will find this a fascinating read, however, I particularly recommend it to educators.

I read this, this past fall. I love how the author, a bit of a grouch by his own admission, recognizes that in many ways happiness comes from not only having our basic needs met, including health care and security, but also a sense of history and culture. The wealthiest country that he visited, Qatar, had wealth at every turn, but lacked in every “emotional” sense of happiness. Not a happy place to be I suspect.

In light of our current economic situation, I think that this book can bring some interesting insight into what it takes to be happy!

I too, highly recommend this book!

I could not agree with you more. This website is just one of many that can help folks find the “truth.” No one should rely on one source of information be it a newspaper or a talk show or TV. This can help folks though when they see an ad or hear something on the radio.

Ummm…I wouldn’t put much stock in finding the truth in that web site any more than I trust Reuters or Al-Jazeera for unbiased, factual reporting.

You want to find “truth” about the elections? Learn to use blog aggregators like Memeorandum and watch how a story develops, and hit sites that have primary sources of information, like tax records and the like.

Never trust any single site. Period.
